Reforesting Freetown for a Greener Future
Overview of the campaign
#FreetownTheTreetown is Freetown’s leading climate adaptation initiative, focused on restoring green spaces, tackling climate challenges, and creating sustainable jobs. Through a community-led tree-growing model, the project aims to plant 5 million trees by 2030, ensuring a greener and more resilient city. Key to this is the provision of monetary incentives to residents to replant trees in climate-vulnerable communities. These trees will be cared for by residents and tracked digitally and will be structured into a series of linked carbon compensation projects to offer carbon offsets to corporate and institutional investors to fund additional reforestation and adaptation projects identified in the Freetown Climate Action Plan.

Project Scope
What We Do
Freetown The Treetown is pioneering a data-driven approach to urban reforestation. Through tree tracking, verification, tokenization, and impact investment, we ensure every tree planted contributes to climate resilience.
- Tree Tracking – Each tree is digitally mapped for real-time growth monitoring.
- Verification – A dedicated team verifies and audits trees for survival and maintenance.
- Tokenization – Trees are assigned digital tokens to create a market for reforestation funding.
- Impact Investment – Tokens link to carbon offset contracts, ensuring long-term sustainability.
